The rustoleum paint is rated for 200 degrees, Would it work on a JD 420 w ? I don't think it would get that hot. Any information on this issue would be appreciated.

On the engine block and radiator specifically?

Can you provide more context for the project? Scope/time spent/etc...

If radiator core and fins are metal, no paint.. The radiator will get rid of its heat better bare metal.. Paint would act as an insulator.. my thoughts.

Yep. There is actually "radiator paint" that is sspecifically for this application.

Rustoleum is some thick and sticky stuff. It would be a no-no.

I assume that it is Rustoleum aerosol. If so, go ahead because it will not be thick enough to cause a problem, unless you are going to be working it at over 90% of it's maximum horsepower load for sustained intervals. For instance you will be fine for brush hogging and pulling a two bottom plow but if you are going to pull a ten foot disc you should keep an eye on the temp. The more important thing here is that you are PROTECTING your radiator. You don't want those fins coming separated from the tubes by weathering.
