Bought rear steel for a old m I am restoring what would you

helping fill the rust pits? Rusty primer that helps fill

I would start by sandblasting the rust away. Then treat it with phosphoric acid. Then prime with an epoxy primer. From there fill the voids with a fiberglass filler and sand level. Then prime again with epoxy primer followed by a filler primer sanding between coats until it is a uniform substrate. Then it would be ready for paint.

Exactly what Stephen said if you want the job to last.

then keep it out of the weather. Don't let it sit in rain and snow and expect it to stay nice and clean and rust-free.
