Has anyone used Rust-Mort? I have a lot of small areas on the tractor I am working on now that I will not be able to get the rust off with the wire wheel. This tractor sat outside and things like the back of hydraulic metal lines, and other areas have surface rust. I have done some reading on Rust-Mort and it seems like if you follow the instructions it works well. Just wondering if anyone has actually used it. I am using an expoy primer and primer sealer before I paint.

Yes I use it. I have mentioned it a number of times on this forum. I followed the directions and it worked well. You need to clean the excess off with water after it dries. I toss the smaller parts in bucket and pressure wash larger parts, in order to get the residue off.

(quoted from post at 19:51:18 07/17/18) Is this just a $$$$$ version of phosphoric acid?

Bob, maybe maybe not. It certainly costs more than the phosphoric that you can pick up at any restaurant or dairy supply, which I can get free at the manufacturer where I work. I have tried them more or less head to head and decided that for my money, the Rust Mort appears to do a better job. You need good penetration and a good conversion in order to get a reliable iron phosphate coating. After all, there is a lot of work and material dollars down the drain if rust breaks through again in three years.
