David Brown paint color name and finding a used body panel

What is the name of the white DB used on the 885 1976 to 1979. The Axalta/DuPont number would be great too.

I need the pan that fits between the front, lower extensions of the hood where the front tin mounts to the frame. Doesn't have to be perfect. Something straight enough that the mount and grill holes are where they're supposed to be. Beyond that, if a little hammer and dolly work and a coat of mud will put back in order it'll be fine.

My frame has had the pans front mounting holes damaged, I'd like to restore those holes to the correct location.

J. I. Case #HTP271GAL Power White. May or may not be DB's Orchid White. No crossover to Axalta (DuPont).

Vapormatic #733043V. Likely UK based. No crossover to Axalta.

Kramp #907008KR. Also likely to be UK based and again, no crossover to Axalta.

Love responding to my own posts. Found years old posts stating there is no crossover from U.K. suppliers of David Brown paint colo[i:bd6e4cc2c3]u[/i:bd6e4cc2c3]rs to a U.S. paint maker. I can't even get the Case Power White color number to cross.

How about a color you have used on your DB that was satisfactory? This isn't a restoration so close enough is plenty good enough.

I don't understand. Axalta is based in Pennsylvania. It should be if you have the DuPont code you should be able to use the code for Axalta paint. There are many places online you can get DuPont codes for old tractors.

Personally I wouldn't use a waterborne finish. Under the best conditions adhesion problems occur. The waterborne finish is the reason you see so many cars today with the paint pealing off to the primer. Even the car factories are having problems with it.

It'll be a two part paint. I am going to heat gun the engine/throttle stop decal. If the paint under it is decent, the paint store can scan it and a make up a paint to match.

Should have waited to media blast the dash until the new wiring and the rest of the tractor proved out.

Be careful spraying two part paints. A lot of them have isocyanate hardeners in them that can really hurt you to breathe even if you use a cartridge type respirator. You really need a air supplied respirator to spray them. I sprayed a couple gallons of Dupont Nason one time outdoors holding my breath when I was down wind from the paint and I got enough exposure I coughed for six months.

Gonna pay someone to do it. My nephew paints cars for a living, he put the fear in me long ago regarding modern paints. He wears what amounts to a space suit when painting.

It's been a pain coming up with something near to the correct color but, I think it is under control now. The fuel shut-off decal covered virgin paint that I'll have scanned Saturday. Onward!
