Depends on the paint. I try to always wait 2 weeks. Check an inconspicuous place and if you can't leave a fingernail mark, then go for it.

It takes almost any paint a month to fully cure. During this time paint shrinks so I would wait until it fully cures before putting a decal on it.

Back in the early to mid-1960's Dad had a Super M-TA and an H repainted by a guy who's day job was a mechanic at the local garage across the street from his house. Complete tractor repaint took 5-6 days. Included having all new decals on it when driving it home, guy used OEM IH water transfer decals and OEM IH paint. We traded the SM-TA about 2 yrs later for a 450 but had the H 4-5 years. Both tractors still looked like brand new, washed & waxed couple times a year.
