repainting steel wheels-question

The factory rims on my 1999 Honda Foreman needed repainting. I had them sand blasted, then I primed and painted them silver 2 coats. My question is, should I put a clear coat on to protect them? Lacquer or Polyurethane or other? Or should I just not do a clear coat so they are easier to touch up? Thanks

Mike

The experience I've had is a clear coat changes the appearance of silver or aluminum paint. I think you should try it on a piece of scrap metal or the inside of the wheel before you do that. I think it makes the paint look gray instead of metallic.
