Case Dc radiator painting

I?m going to paint the radiator for my Case Dc. Can you all give me some advice about painting it? I have some Case IH power red. Should I prime the radiator first? The radiator is completely apart. What kind of primer should I use if I use primer? Should I use thinner or Enamel reducer to mix with the paint? The radiator shell is down to bare metal. I won?t be painting the core. I bill having it boiled out at the radiator shop. Thank you

On a radiator I would have the paint as thin as possible. Where it has paint on it now there is no reason to prime it. Primer is only needed on bare metal. You could use the Case IH paint if you wish. Just make sure you have the radiator very clean and dry before you spray it.

Years ago when I was racing stock cars, I was told that if you paint a radiator, core and all, black it will help dispel heat.

I can't prove or disprove it, but since black absorbs heat it made sense so that's what I've always done.
