paint availability

I have a '49 tractor and every where I ask to have the paint codes mixed I am told that not available any more as they are outdated. Is there someplace that still can mix old paint codes?

If you can take off a piece of sheet metal that still has paint, like the underside of the battery box, you can take it to a good paint jobber and they can analyze it and duplicate it for you.

All paint is mixed, just depends on where they mix it.

Please state make, model and year of tractor.

The paint codes I need are PPG 2492 and PPG 70837 I have yet to find a place locally that can mix these codes and there is no non rusted parts to scan. Thanks

I am very curious as to why it matters what tractor those color codes are for. Going on that tractor site and asking for the codes for my tractor came up with the codes I have, now if it was for a JD they would be wrong but for MH they might be right? MY question is where can I find a place that can mix to those codes no matter what they are for.

It matters because it would be a lot easier to tell you where else you could get the paint to paint the tractor.

If there is any removable small part of the tractor which the paint is in reasonably good condition you can sand off the surface oxidation of the old paint and put a coat of clear on it that would be a color sample. Then the paint supplier can computer match it like your home center does with house paint.

Really Stephen?

Both of the automotive paint suppliers I use do computer color matching. The question is can a suitable color sample be made.

They do it where I get my paint too, which is why I suggested it four hours before you did, LOL

Easiest 5 seconds I spent.

Did you even look, or just post?

It looks like you are painting a MH, I do not see why you have been so obstinate.

So from all the replies here, I presume that no one knows were the original paint codes can be mixed.?

i'll try and toss my hat in the ring on this one two. there are a couple reds and yellows i can cross over from your ppg codes. i dupont, there are a couple reds 24118 audlv and 27958 d which is also a cross from ditzlers 70837. also, l7947 d, 6491 ad, 4294 (rangoon red or rs558. here are a couple yellows in dupont also 29440 d or 71890. maybe some of these can get you in the ball park. we switched over to enviorbase water born about 6 months ago from diamont, and the mixing software for water does not have the old formulas.

(quoted from post at 05:24:47 04/12/18) Sorry, I don't read what everyone else suggests, only the original posters question.

So does that mean that you also don't know about additional information that the OP adds later on in an effort to help those trying to help him?
