Binks Mod. 26

I have a older Binks Model 26 spray gun. Where can I get an instruction/parts manual? I've used it a few times but I'm only guessing on how to set it up. No luck on web searches yet.

I have a Binks copy gun, but I can't remember the model. I found good instructions and parts drawings on the internet and printed them out. I think you'll find what you're looking for - might have to vary the search description a time or two.

see if you have a body shop supplier in your area, or stop by your local body shop and see where they buy from. the supplier should be able to get you a rebuild kit, and most of them will rebuild the gun for you.

I believe the model 26 is a siphon type sprayer. It couldn't be more simple. They aren't good for spraying latex paint but enamels and automotive paints would be simple to set up and spray. Use about 40 psi air pressure and keep thinning the paint until it sprays well. On the back the top knob would adjust the pattern and the bottom knob would adjust the volume. The top knob turn counterclockwise to spray a wider pattern. For the most part I don't adjust the volume knob. I pull the trigger all the way down and screw in the knob until it makes contact with the trigger and leave it there. The only time I adjust the volume is when I sort of air brush with the sprayer. The more you screw the knob in the less paint comes out.

The only thing I can see you might need a manual for is repair parts.

This one only has one knob on the back. Just a plug in the upper port to retain the air valve. The only way to adjust the air is to vary the position of the sleeve on the needle so that the first part of the trigger opens the air then the knob adjusts the paint flow. The needle is threaded, then a sleeve screws on to it, then another short rod acts as a locknut. But then, I don't have instructions so I'm guessing.

pittsburg spray equipment is a binks obsolete parts supplier. they may have parts. it is a very old school gun. a binks 7 or 9 would be a better choice.

I see what you mean. I don't think I would like that gun. The knob it has only adjusts the volume of paint. There doesn't seem to be any means of adjusting the pattern. That is really what is important.

You might consider a different gun. Harbor Freight makes a good sprayer for about 20 bucks. It's model 97855.

That's the one although it Mod. 28, but looks exactly the same. Look between the trigger and the body and you'll see the larger diameter of the sleeve I was referring to. That sleeve can be adjusted fore and aft to allow more or less trigger travel for opening the air valve. Adjust it aft and the air valve opens more. Once the trigger hits the sleeve it moves the needle. Paint flow is limited by the knob. Now if I could only find the instructions.

The valve you are referring to does more than control the amount of air. It's a needle which goes through the sprayer to the nozzle and works like a gate controlling the amount of paint which comes out of the gun. If you pull back on the trigger and look at the nozzle you will see the end of the needle disappear into the gun.

if the gun has dried paint on it, pick up a product from klean strip called naked gun cleaner. we use it here at the shop for solvent based paints.
