HI

I am looking for a carbon filter for an air fed full faced mask, is there such as thing out there like this?

I would like to be able to filter the air I'm breathing for my air fed mask

or what ideas I can use?

I've never heard of one. The air supplied respirator pump is suppose to be located somewhere where the air is clean so I don't see the need for a charcoal filter. The most you might do is construct a box to fit the pump into that has hepa filter to remove dust or pollen.

There is really no need for a carbon filter, but make sure fan is in real clear air.

I bought mine with short hose, and did not get it far enough away, got paint on inside of unit, and put me in hospital. I now have the 50' hose and make sure it is clear and upwind. The longer hose works well too in the summer, I coil up unused hose in a wash tub filled with ice water, and get nice cool air.

ok, how do you get warm breathing air in winter temps? I had my pump too close to where I spray and was getting some smell in the line,

my shop is heated but where I draw the air in my overhead door to outside needs to be open about 6" , so at first its not too bad for temp but after a while of drawing in cold air it gets really cold on your head and face

#1, get a longer hose. if you are getting fumes, then the fan is too close to paint.

#2, might try setting the fan in a box with a device that blows in hot air like a hair dryer or heat gun.

#3, if not #2, try coiling hose in warm water bath, like I do with ice bath in summer.

since I have had some fumes go through the system is it still ok to use for my safety? or do I need a new pump?

Thanks for all your replies so far

If you can still smell paint when the pump in located where the air is clean you might run it for a while to purge the fumes but otherwise it should be alright. Sometimes plastics will absorb odors and what ever plastic including the line may have done that. Unless you were spraying isocyanates I wouldn't worry about it anyway.

Mine has red paint coating the inside, but it has long dried and gives off no fumes, if you can smell anything after changing filters, then you have an issue.

ok I plan to move my pump and draw air from outside, do you use plastic pipe to pipe it? and I was thinking of installing it on the roof? if so how do I keep moisture out of it ?
Thanks in advance

I me, I would just set it outside a window when painting, run hose through window, and put away when not using.

Anytime you restrict intake, you restrict flow.
