I plan on painting one of the john deeres I have ready to do. Its a 37 b and ive been told that you need to get paint to match the year of the tractor?. What I have from a guy is john deere ag/c&ce green number ty25656. Ive seen some stuff done with this paint and it sure looks nice. What do you guys think thanks.
 

I used JD "Classic Green" on my '52 "B", used rattle cans and it looks like it has a Clear Coat on it..

We had 2 same year JD "B" ('52) and one had a darker color than the other..go figure..!!

I liked the brighter of the two, so Classic Green was very good..

Main thing is to prepare the surface well, then prepare it a second time, shoot a light primer coat and wet-sand that onto the ground..

Work on any places that need it, primer it and shoot it... The "Finish" is in the Prep..
 
Thanks for the help on this iv been working on a part of the tractor and see what u are saying that when I think I'm done with that part and move to another part only when I walk by the one I was done on that I see more to do when I prime it and things stick out like a sore thumb.
 
You want TY 25624 Classic JD green. It has a darker Bluish tent to it. That is what the tractors prior to the 30 series where painted. The Ag green you have has a more yellow cast to it. It is what the Mowers and Newer tractors are painted. You can used either one you want but I personally like the Classic better because as it ages it just seems to get darker. The Ag green will get more yellow with time.

This paint job is about 15 years old in this picture and I just polished with it with turtle wax metal polish this is what it looked like the day before

You can spend as much time as you want on prep and it still won?t be enough on an old farm tractor it can be tough to know how much to do of course the more time you put in the better the job it will be
