looking to purchase a sandblaster for small jobs, I have seen a backpack style sandblaster and was wondering if anyone has used them , how good are they?? whats the best product to use in them? looking for the pros and cons in something like this, or what do you recommend? any help appreciated.

Never heard of that. Just get one for gasoline-they come in many sizes. I have used those that are small to moderate on 6 tractors, mostly on sheet metal on the tractors and kept away from most of the cast so it will not go into the wrong place. Those who does it for living will spray all--I won't. For small parts I use the ones that are sealed with covered hands and arms. I would have one about 5 feet or more, lot of money. The sealed one keeps all inside and not a mess.

CNKS is referring to a blast cabinet for small parts, which is what most people use. I couldn't see any advantage to a back pack for small parts because you don't need to walk around. I would advise you to watch Craig's list for a used one.

Never seen a backpack type but I would think the mobility advantage would be limited by how much sand you could carry. I have a pressure pot, siphon, and small cabinet. Biggest thing you need is a LOT of CFM or you'll spend a lot of time waiting for the compressor to catch up. I use glass beads in the cabinet for carbs and small parts.
