IH 2150 on engine block

Hi all-
First time repaint on on IH 464 gas. I?m using IH 2150 thinned 8:1:1 (paint:reducer:hardener)
My question is will this paint hold up for use on the engine block? Will it hold up to the heat?
Strange...this project started with repairing the rusty gas tank and turned into removing all sheet metal, sanding the whole tractor, new radiator, ignition components, oil cooler, etc.

Not sure why I got this far into it, but I?m sure some of you have been in the same spot.

Most of the engine it will probably work alright. Up close to the exhaust manifold it will probably blister. It's not formulated for high heat.

I don't know anything about your paint, but I can relate to the mission creep on a repair project.

Mine started out as an engine overhaul, but when I thought I'd better paint that rusty spot between the steering pedestal and the radiator, progress went to pot. I hope I live long enough to see it run again.

That 2150 paint was used on a lot of IHC tractors in the 1940's thru the late 50's, they painted the engine blocks and such with it.

No. IH #50 was used on letter series, 1939 to '48
#1102B used '48 to '58, late letter series and 300/400/350/450
IH #201 used 1958 to late 1961, 460/560
IH 2150 used late '61 until about 1981 when the Farmall plant started using their E-coat system, but they still used 2150 on other paint lines. So late 460/560, 706/806, 56/66/86 series.

To be factory correct, straight 2150 sprayed on everything and then paint burned off exhaust manifolds would be best. Farmall & LVL didn't do lots of masking but they did do some. I mask off serial number tags on tractors, staryers, generators & alternators, injection pumps. Light lenses, as much wiring as I can, grease zerks, radiator cores, gauge faces, steering wheels.

Dr. Evil, very good to mask off the things that were added after the chassis paint like the pump, serial number tag, light lenses and wiring, radiator and seat, etc. but why the starter?

I think he is saying he masks the serial tags on the generator, starter etc. Not the whole starter.
