Agco Persian Orange 2 paint

I bought several quarts of Agco paint so a pro can paint my D17 IV. I want this tractor to look like it
did when it left the factory and not a show winning trailer queen so automotive paint and clear coat are
not a option. The problem is my painter is requesting mixing and reducing info on this enamel paint and I
dont have any information and the can doesnt either!! Is anyone familiar with this paint? Thanks in
advance to all help on this matter. Ryan
 
I've never used it but found out it's an alkyd enamel. With any alkyd you thin it as little as possible, just enough to make it fluid enough to spray. It's real easy to get too much thinner in it and it screws up the sheen and makes it take too long to dry.

As far as automotive paint not all of it is basecoat/clearcoat. You can get a single stage automotive paint which would have the same appearance and color as the Agco paint. Your tractor since it is an orange/red will be bad to fade in color with an alkyd. Within about three years unless the tractor is kept indoors will be noticeably lighter in color using an alkyd where an automotive paint would fade little in a dozen years. With an alkyd you can expect the paint to completely fail within 10 years where it would need to be stripped off and repainted. I realize automotive paint is a lot more expensive however giving the extended life is a lot cheaper in the long run.

I hate to tell anyone they've bought the wrong product, but I'd use a single stage automotive acrylic enamel with hardener. Any automotive paint supplies should be able to mix the right formula.

You'll be more satisfied with the result, even if it costs more.
