Ferguson questions.

I'm new to the forum and have a question about a ferguson to20 that my father gave me. It has a hood with a big opening door in the center. And every picture I have ever seen of a to20 has a solid hood. Is this the right hood or is it off another tractor? And how can I tell if it's a to20 because it doesn't have the serial number plate.

Does it have a hood door on top that looks like this one? Might be a hood from a ford 9n/2n.

No sir the one on my tractor runs the length of the hood. I would put a picture but I'm new to this and I'm not sure how to.

Sounds more like from a Ferguson 35. And the 20 has the oil filter in the pan, the 30 has a canister on side of engine.

I would bet that you have a Ferguson 35 Deluxe. They have a hood with a panel down the middle. This way you can fill the fuel tank without tipping the entire hood like you do on the TO 20,TO30, and the straight 35.

The one pictured is a later red one. Yours could be an early gray hood but green belly one.

I believe to put a hood on like JD Seller's picture would take a lot of modification if it even can be done. Could yours be a later tractor being a 35 instead of a 20 that you think you have as you don't know if it might be a 30. The 20 and 30 both have 4 speed transmission with the S or start possion where a 5th gear you would think would be. The 35 had a 6 speed transmission with 3 speeds and a high-low gear shift as well.

Sounds like TO 35 to me. The picture JD posted would be mid 1956, serial# 176341 and later and if like mine would be 140001 to 176340 with only 5 made in 1954 and hood changed about midway in 1956. Mine is 1955. Does it have MF or MHF on the castings?

Jim that is the hood mine has. And the standings are hf. It does have a z120 engine and the 4 speed trans with the start where 5th would be. I hope to make mine look that nice one day. That's a beautiful tractor.

I would like to see a picture, never see anybody put a 35 hood on a TO20 or 30. I was hoping you would say MHF as it would have made a little easier. Email open if you can send picture.

I will put a pic as soon as I figure out how.

earniej4life, I got your pictures, the hood is from a early 35, complete with dog legs and grille. It doesn't appear they altered the rear of hood just let it hang over your TO20 dash. Hope this helps, Jim

Did your Dad have a loader at one time for that tractor? That would have been a reason to chang as with the tilt up hood to use a loader you had to take the hood off and use the tractor without a hood as you could not put fuel in with the hood on? Changing to that hood you could put fuel in and also check the radiator.
