I am starting to Restore my grandfathers 56 Ford 640and have a few questions if anyone could shed some light to.

1. To make this truly a restored 56 should I replace the fenders/sheet metal parts that are damaged or try and salvage? Some of these look rough and have rusted through or have been dented real bad.
2. What paint is recommended for the case/engine? Should I use the high temp everywhere or just motor?
3. Should I try and paint exhaust manifold and will Paint last?

Thanks for any and all feed back. I am def a rookie at this but having a blast with my son starting this project.

It depends.

1.Any amount of rust and bends and dents can be fixed if you are willing to put the hours in. Or if you can afford it you can buy new sheet metal from Dennis Carpenter.

2.There is no need for high heat paint on any of the housings or the motor. Good quality epoxy primer will not be bothered by the heat of the motor.

3. If you want original, the manifolds were both painted at the factory with red alkyd enamel, and the exhaust paint burned off. If you want good looks paint the intake the same red as the rest, and the exhaust using a high heat paint. I like the one that Eastwoods carries.
