Stone chipped truck

I recently purchased a 2002 chevy truck from California with no/very little if any rust. However it's seen alot of miles on gravel roads and has lots of stone chips on the body and under carriage. Since I live in the salt belt I want to preserve the body the best I can. What procedure would you recommend to preserve the bottom part of the truck. Also I do drive a fair amount on gravel roads here too. I want to do this myself and want it to hold up.

If it were only a couple dings I would say fill it and paint it but a lot of dings it would be easier to take it down to the bare metal and refinish it, at least the areas where the dings are.

I have been using this for over 25 years on under body
and frames. It comes in black, white, sliver and clear. It
will stop rust and it gets harder than the pits of hell. I
have not used it on the outside body sheet metal but I guess a
person could. The dry time varies with the temp. and
humidity. If it will be exposed to sun light you will need to top
coat while it is still tacky, it dries so hard you have a hard
time scuffing it up. Use a good respirator and rubber gloves, If
it dries on your skin you will wear it off, worse than PVC glue.
I used it on the under carriage of my motorhome 6 years ago and
It is still good.

Most paint chips I've sanded while doing body work look pretty small on the surface but get larger as you go down through the layers of paint and often have a bit of rust in them once you get down to the metal. If you were to rock guard that you might be setting yourself up for a rust issue. If you just got it and are sure there is no rust then go for it.

I see a lot of people taping a low line down side of there trucks and applying a roll on bed liner.or having the pros spray it on.there is a product called monstaliner.they have a bunch of colors and claim colors don't fade.

Just a thought
