Pin Hole Repair On Old Truck Window Frame

I am working on a 1950 Chevy Pickup. On the door exterior at the base of the window there are small rust holes all along the edge. This is normally covered by a piece of trim but the rust holes are large enough to just be starting to come out beyond the trim. I am trying to figure the best way to repair. I have tried wire welding small rust holes closed before and it usually ends up in a mess as the metal is thin and the holes just keep getting bigger as you try and weld them closed. I think I can make a patch panel but this is a complicated area because there is a small bead around the window and a large body line bead right below it. I am thinking about sand blasting the holes and then filling them with JB Weld. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

best way is to tig the holes shut. but, a down and dirty method is to sandblast the rust clean, prime with sem self etch primer , sem 39673 comes in a rattle can, and coat with dura glass filler. then contour sand, follow up with a skim coat of body filler, sand and prime. we use roberlo futura glass but any of the fine chopped fiberglass fillers will work.

If it were me I would sandblast the rust off. Then epoxy prime. Then fill the voids with a fiberglass filler, sand and epoxy prime again. Any time I've had anything rust like that you can't just clean it off the rust will come back. The epoxy primer will stop the rust.

sandblast, paint with POR-15, fill holes with POR-15 putty, prime before por15 dries, then thin coat with a quality filler, smooth, prime and paint. I have been using POR 15 for over 30 years, just sold a 54 Pontiac I painted in 1985, The only bubbles were where I did repairs by the book. the POR 15 repairs were still same as day after. presently completing a 55 F100. I use quite a bit of epoxy primer , but I find POR 15 holds up better in a situation like you have. Important to coat both sides of a rust area, regardless of what you use.
