Old DuPont Centauri Paint use or toss?

I probably know the answer but thought I would ask anyway
I can across some DuPont Centauri I bought 17 years ago he's 17 years been on a shelf in basement and forgot all about it single stage red for a Farmall still liquid and moves around when shaking the gallon can. Think it's useable or should I toss it away?

You can tell if it went bad by looking at it. I still spray lacquer I bought a long time ago. Spray it out on a test panel for insurance before use on a project.

Stir it good and pour it through a strainer. If you can do this with only one strainer it should be good to use. If there is so many clumps in it you have to use multiple strainers I think I would pitch it. However as old as it is I don't know if I would use it on something real important.

Put it in a paint shaker (don't even think I would attempt to stir it as the heavier pigments have probably settled out), open the lid and try straining it as was suggested.

I wouldn't be afraid of using it if it passes that test. As long as the can was sealed and it passes the 'shake and strain' test then use it.

If it comes out 'chunky' then I would pitch it.

Proper disposal USED to be to dump floor dry into the paint, stir and wait a few days for it to get soaked up into the floor dry. Then it could legally be disposed of into a dumpster as long as no liquid paint was present.

I don't know if that still holds true now or not.

Hope this helps.

if it were me, i wouldnt use it on anything of quality. prolly shoot a gravity box wagon or something with it. it may still be good. but it may not. too much prep involved to take the chance.

Eddie,My experience with old DuPont Centauri paint is that after it sets around a few years it will get what I call seedy and no amount of mixing or shaking will break the seeds up.
