What shade of red should a 1948 G gas cap be?

The gas gap on a 1948 JD G is red. Can anyone specify the exact color (e.g, Pantene number), or point me to where to buy the correct shade? Thanks.

Well, don't shoot me, but I always thought the best - looking red was the Farmall Case-IHC B17566 red. In spray cans. Just looks the best, to me.

I know it isn't probably correct, but I just
grabbed a spray can at HD. Apple red or
something along those lines. Nobody has ever
made a comment.

Have you thought of using John Deere Red ? It was used on the wood parts of there very old equiptment and also on the lower parts of tractor mounted cultivators. This was in the unstyled era. I have used it in the past and it was easy to use. Bought it by the gallon.clint
