4020 paint romoval

HI guys how would yall recommend that i remove paint and grease and grime from the frame of my
4020 powershift? Saqndblasting is always an option but id rather not because that stuff gets
some places the sun dont shine and tht aint good!! Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Tell you what I do to start with.... car wash. I run the tractor into town, drive to gas station and fill her up, head to car wash, leave the engine running at a high idle, so it keeps on running, and wash, hot soapy blasts really get the grime / grease / some old paint / off. Rinse and drive home to dry off.

Thanks fro the input i have already power washed it and will hot power wash it before i roll into the shop for paint. Can someone tell me how to remove the paint from the cast iron engine block and tranny and stuff?? is soda blasting an option?? How do yall get in those tight spots to remove paint?? please help as im ready to start but dont know what to do for that part. I will be blasting all removable sheet metal etc. Thanks

Hard caked grease is just mechanical removal. Scraper , gunk, wire wheels , more gunk , wire wheels on grinders . You just keep scaping and soaping until it is clean.

No, I would not do that. The grease / grime I washed off was not a large amount, no more than in your engine compartment on your truck. But I know what you mean, I saw a car wash one time where some jerk cleaned out his cattle trailer, left hundreds pounds of straw / manure. It was really bad.

Be careful with that hot pressure wash because I did that once and stuck the clutch. I had real fun the next time I started it and put it in gear.

What has worked for me is hand scrapping as much of the grease and grime off as possible. Then I go to the Dollar Store and buy all of the store brand oven cleaner they have. I rent a good gas powered hot water pressure washer. I coat everything with oven cleaner and let it sit for half hour to a full hour before pressure washing it off. I repeat this until it's pretty clean. I then buy a quality aircraft paint remover (wear a respirator mask and eye protection) and apply it with a paint brush. I let it sit for about a half hour and pressure wash it again. If it's a good pressure washer the hot water by itself will remove paint. I am just careful around any spots where there are gaskets or openings into the engine when using the pressure washer. This process has worked well for me, and you don't have to mess with sand.
