Looking for your advice on painting/sanding my "A" tractor; have fixed everything that needs fixed and ready to sand; what grit do I sand with? Not a "show tractor" ; will be on the farm but want it to look nice also. The metal is "straight" except one side of hood has several "small" dents. Thanks.

Every year or two I wet-sand my Farmall, and hit her with some more Case-IHC red. Gets better and better looking each year.

The First thing is you need is to find a auto body supply store near your house they are a lot more helpful than the run of the mill auto parts store they have no clue. you need medium body filler A long hard. Foam sanding block they come in different sizes and shapes they sell them At the auto body supply stuff call guide coat or you can use the cheapest flat black you can find it's up to you

1. Start stripping the paint
2. Spray primer let dry
3. Spread a very light coat of filler over entire hood let it dry. Tip do it in cool weather lessons learned the hard way
4. Mist guide coat or flat black paint. Over the entire hood let dry When you block sand the filler the black color makes it easier to see high and low spots
5. Spray primer again and mist guide coat sand with a finer sand paper. This time you will see any sanding marks and any more low spots
That may need more filler if needed repeat Step 5
Keep working on it you will smooth it out again good luck
