What is the best way to remove rust stains from paint?
Recently purchased a tractor with calcium chloride stains on the rear rims. I know that the rims may need replaced, but right now I would like to remove the stains. Paint is white. Staining is not severe. Appreciate the help.

I'd experiment if were you. I know vinegar will dissolve rust, so it might help. Also might try CLR lime remover.

Is the rust stains from water dripping from somewhere else? Most of the time the rust stain is the what is bleeding through the paint and the metal is rusting under the paint. This involves completely removing the paint and treating the metal.

Whink liquid rust remover might be worth a try. Or Iron Out powder that you mix with warm water.

I've used Whink to remove rust from the tub... and Iron Out to remove rust from clothing. (We have a lot of iron in our water.)

Be sure to neutralize the chemical you apply with baking soda and warm water , then a good clean water rinse, otherwise the rust remover will continue to eat away at the rim.
