why is nissan terrano different colour under bonnet??

I am ivor from uk and today I went to see a SWB Nissan Terrano about 30 miles away .. I took it for a test drive and it went very well.. when I returned I looked around it and there was some corrosion at the sills this is usual place for rust. the vehicle is blue but when I raised the bonnet I could see all the panels around engine were a different colour.. the colour was light grey
the paintwork looked good there was no sign of any bodging at all .. I have not seen this before
I know I am in different country but someone may know the reason .the vehicle is 13 years old and was made in Japan

Usually when a color is a different color under the bonnet someone has refinished the vehicle and didn't do there. The color under the bonnet is most likely the original color of the vehicle. It's not a problem if the person that refinished the car knew what they were doing but it's a gamble they didn't. The paint could peal off someday if it wasn't done right.
