i see Valspar was bought by Sherwin Williams paint company. does anyone have any ideas if the international paint 2150 will change in formula or price? my experience has been that products don't improve or even continue to be made after a buy out. I appreciate all your thoughts. I may need to buy a bunch now before it gets messed up. thanks..

Vette,

I can't answer as to if the quality has/will change, but I'm getting ready to paint my tractor that I'm renovating with Valspar Tractor and Implement paint in Massey Red and Grey. I'll report back how it sprays and looks in my thread in the Massey forum. Should be about a week until I can start spraying color.

Jeff

You might want to reconsider that. Granted the Valspar enamel sprays well and looks great but afterwards a color with red in it you can almost see if fading daily.

Pictured is a Kubota tractor. The stir stick is the color the tractor was when it was freshly painted. The paint on the hood was about a month old and the dash to the right the paint was a year old.

I would like to ask you a question. Would it fade as bad or even at all if it was clear coated after wards? Just wondering!

A clear coat that has UV protection would definitely help. Still as much work as it is to paint a tractor I think it's worth it to use automotive paint. The Valspar paint is more similar to enamel house paint.

I know someone that is in the Sherwin Williams company at a management level. This is what he said about your question. Hi Steve, The Valspar buy out by Sherwin Williams will not take effect until the end of the first quarter in 2017......
As far as products go, Valspar formulas will not be changed. The only difference will be that each Valspar can will end up saying in smaller letters, "A Sherwin Williams Product".
I know certain contractors rely on the way a certain product performs. That's why no formulas will change. The question on the tractor forum being a perfect example of why formulas will not change!
