Farmall M Manifold Paint

Hello all,

Been working on restoring my Farmall M, and just received my new manifold. In previous restorations I have tried using high-temp black grill/BBQ paint with very little success, I've had my powdercoat guy use high-temp powdercoating with little luck. I'm just wondering if you all have found any methods that seem to work on the manifold without burning off? I'd like to go black. Ceramic coating is just a little too expensive for my blood. Any input is appreciated!

Have you tried John Deere muffler/turbo paint? It finishes in satin black. I used it years ago on a motorcycle header and it worked well. Kinda expensive. At the time, I could only get it at a dealer.

I have used VHT ceramic coating it will withstand heat in excess of 2,000 degrees. It is a header coating.

VHT Flameproof Ceramic Coating is the same coating used by the auto & aerospace industry. I have used it but not long enough yet to say about long term results but so far so good. BIL used it on headers when he was drag racing. VHT gives you directions on how to clean surface and apply coating and it can be done while object is on vehicle. You must follow direction on how to clean and bake coating on to get maximum effect.
