there has been some posts on here regarding the turbine hvlp sprayers. Looking at amazon I find some of these but the prices range from 300-400 dollars all the way up. Are the lower price units any good or should I stay away from them?

The good ones start around 300. the cheaper ones might be OK for some oil base paint thinned fairly well. The quality of the paint gun itself is key. I have a small and a bigger Wagner turbine and a bigger professional Titan gun. The Wagner gun works well, but I prefer the Titan for its larger spray pattern. I have completed overall complete truck base/clear coat paint jobs in my barn with the Titan. My body shop friends thought I had water sanded and buffed it, but I had not. Now the reason I used it and not a conventional HVLP gun was cold Michigan winter temperature and a unclean environment. The turbine warms the air and it does not spur up any dust. For most Paint jobs I stick with my conventional devibiss or Sharpe guns. There have been some negative comments about Harbor Freight guns. For most amateur painters these guns can work well. The key is spending enough time with adjustments and viscosity of the paint. Most paints require and most professional painters cut or thin the paint more than instructions indicate. use of a viscosity cup is a good idea. Now the cheapo HF gun is not going to give you the beautiful wide perfectly even 12" spray pattern a expensive gun is capable of. But they can lay down smooth even coats of paint.

am I understanding you right that if buying a 300 - 400 dollar turbine system would work as long as you also purchased a higher price quality gun in addition
