CHOICE OF PAINT

Has anyone purchased paint from the THECOATINGSTORE.COM?If so could they come up with a red to match IH#2150 & what brand would it be? There price's seem to be fair.
Thanks for any help.

They are a custom paint store so they should be able to make the IH2150 paint however I would check the shipping charges first. I think the hasmat fees would be terribly high. Surely there is someone near where you live that could supply you with paint. Even my Napa store sells Dupont automotive paint. Since it's not a car where they could look up the paint codes you might have to provide a sample for them to computer match. This would be awkward with a mail order.

Stephen, your right they want a sample color of the paint so they can come up with a match. Not sure about hasmat charges.I just brought some gun powder and hasmat alone was $28.00.Are you sure there are hasmat charges for paint?
Thanks for your input.

Well since you asked..... my experience hsa been paint manufacturer's come up with various red's, and think "I KNOW, let's call it Case-IH red." Close, but I've never found one to match the Case-IH exactly. If that's what you want, and since you asked, and I agree, .... just get Case IH 2150.

On the hazmat charges - we're in a different world now. I'd imagine the coatingstore has to tack them on.

Ask them, obviously. But That's why I can't buy IH paint.

CaseIH won't sell directly, and their dealers won't ship paint to me. Call me lazy, but I don't want to drive all the way up into New
Hampshire for a can of paint.

We have a more local place that's not technically a CaseIH dealer, but deals with older IH equipment, but even they can't carry it. The
special shipping charges price them out of the market, so they stopped stocking it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. So I envy those who can say "just go grab a can of 2150 from your dealer"! Must be nice.

Thankfully we do have some PPG dealers around. With their lower end products you can still get paint in the same ballpark price wise.

Jimdog - if you have a PPG dealer in your area and haven't visited them - I'd try that. I find no matter how much paint I buy, I always
need one quart more. It's nice to be able go pick up small amounts as needed without shipping. Not to mention all the "extras" you need
when painting - harnders - primers - sanding pads - mixing cups - etc etc etc.

And - I obviously can't speak for all PPG dealers, but the local guys here REALLY know their stuff. Every time I go in there thinking I
know what I want, it leads into an hour long discussion and I come out knowing something I didn't when I went in.

If you're not a pro/experienced painter, a local shop like that can be a fantastic resource. All depends on the guy behind the counter of
course. So - I just wanted to point out to not overlook that value when pricing paint.

I poked around on the site and found a table of shipping charges and I did not see any mention of HazMat. I did not try filling out an order. Lots of times you can enter all your order information and will finally get to a screen that will let you estimate shipping. I would try going that far and if there are HazMat then cancels the order. There is also a toll free number somewhere for you to call. I also really didn't see any single stage paints that I would use on a tractor. The "paint kits" are all base/clear coat systems. There is a section for low gloss paints though.

I buy paints and epoxy primer from a company named MAGNET paint. It's very good paint for trailers and equipment, nicely priced but they always charge me a Hazmat

I have purchased paint and primer from them. Good product and good folks to deal with. Their Oxystick Epoxy Primer is awesome.
