Hello-I am looking for any tips on the repair of the fiber/glass or plastic]? dually fender on my 2001 f-350 tractor hauler. backed into junk & it split about a foot fwd, & ft. down. it looked totaled until I pulled carefully fwd. & surprisingly it regained its shape. all the cuts lap back together, like they could be glued. only busted out 1 piece above clearance lite, 3''x3''--I have it] grateful for any tips.

If actually fiberglass then just use normal fiberglass repair procedures. If plastic, go to Ford body shop and find out what kind and repair procedure , or a good body/paint oriented auto parts store and they should have the products and tech sheets for using it.

there are a couple products you can use. SEM 39767 problem plastic repair adhesive, or 3M 08115 panel bonding adhesive, or 3M 08219 composite and metal bonding adhesive. you will need some type of backer behind the repair for added strength, either strips of sheet metal (use the 3m 08219) or fiberglass reinforced screen (use either of the other two compounds. you will need the application gun (see if you can borrow one) and the mixing tips, they are one use tips. heres a pic of the applicator gun and the tips.

The plastic fenders on my Dodge were broke when I bought it. Used some of the 3M plastic adhesives (don't remember the number) and made one good fender out of two. I glued a piece of the old fender in as a backer behind the seam, temporarily held it together with some self-tapping screws, filled up the crack and screw holes with the glue, then sanded it down and painted it. I don't have a picture of it all painted, but that was over 5 years ago and still no signs of cracking. NAPA sells the 3M products and applicator gun, but you can probably buy them cheaper at a local auto paint store.

Thanks for photo & your tips edj856--looks good! beginning to see a game plan on mine. gotta get a tractor out of shop, so be a bit before I start. I was wondering about pulling this thing together against reinforcement piece, s/tap screws look good.
