I am restoring my first garden tractor, its my first time restoring one and was hoping someone could give me some tips on what kind of primer and paint to use , like a one stage versus a base clear job ? I have a cabinet sand blaster for small parts, I was also looking for tips on weather to use silica ,, or walnut shells or so forth ,,,,,, thank you very much in advance for any comments ,,,very much appreciated

I've used silica in the past. It leaves a good finish but breaks down quickly and is very dusty. The stuff TSC sells Black Max (?) which I believe is slag works very good but leaves a coarse finish. Can't help with the painting but the Eastwood company has lots of youtube videos showcasing their paint and body products. HTH Mike

unless you have a approved respirator and proper protective gear, stay away from silica. its bad stuff. for your first paint jobs, a good single stage urethane will be fine. whatever product line you choose, ie ppg, dupont, glasurit, sherwin williams, martin senyor, ect, stay in the product line, dont mix and match because you think, or some guy said it will work. its way easier to do it right the first time, than to have to strip it again and re-do it.
