Muffler paint

Wanted to know if I paint my straight pipe on my allis chalmers B with BBQ grill paint will it be ok or burn off over time ? Anybody ever tried this ?

Use a paint that is a VHT ceramic paint it will last longer but apply as said by manufacturer and bake it on as directed.

Straight pipe, I dunno. I think I tried it on a Farmall muffler, and it very slowly turned sorta gray then sorta whitish.

POR has a high temp muffler paint called Black Velvet. I've used it on cast manifolds and it holds up very well. It's not super shiny, so what I did was apply 2 coats of black velvet and then top coat that with regular POR--which has a bit more gloss to it. Works great and is a fraction of the cost of ceramic coating.

Black Velvet is only good to 1,200 degrees and VHT ceramic coating is good to 2,000 degrees. The muffler of this 450 was done 4 years ago with VHT ceramic paint and is holding up good. That muffler gets hotter than most IH mufflers because its a baffled muffler. VHT has direction on how to bake it on the tractor after being painted .

I have really good luck with the JD muffler paint, it will lose the gloss when gets hot, but does not seem to come off.
