PPG Single Stage Color VS. BC/CC Color

Hello, I have a question for those of you who have found an answer to this question by past experience. My knowledgeable PPG paint guy has retired and so I'm needing you guys' help. I use the PPG Omni paint line and was thinking of using Single stage urethane for the frame and then using Basecoat/clearcoat for the sheetmetal. If I'm using the exact same paint number, with the exact same PPG Omni products except for one is single stage and the other is basecoat/clearcoat, should the end result be the same shade of color when put next to one another? Just maybe one a little shinier than the other? Normally I use single stage on everything but would like to try Basecoat/clearcoat on the sheetmetal if possible to be done without being a problem when it comes to matching the shades. Thanks in Advance!

the only way to be sure is to shoot test panels, one in single stage and the other in base clear and compare them under several light sources. ie sunlight, fluorescent, incandescent, and a bright spot light. the older ppg 2000 series clear had a yellow shift in the color. evident on light er colors and silvers.

I have done that on two tractors, I can't see the difference. And, when you use 2 stage on sheet metal and single on cast a slight difference will blend in and not be noticed. Anyway I did not use the same colors because the IH 2150 (PPG 71310) has too much orange in it, so I adjusted both of them as good as I could--very little difference or none.

In theory, yes they would match. Put a min wage delivery guy behind the counter and have him mix paint because nobody likes to mix paint or short handed that day and anything can happen. Like G said, test panel it.

Thanks guys for the help! We'll see how it does!
