I have a m farmall that I plan to sandblast and
wondering what's a good primer to use with the Ih
2150 paint

One thing to remember is that sandblasting will drive sand into every crack and hole. I would blast, prime, disassemble completely, clean, replace seals and bearings, reassemble, then finish paint.

Agree, disassemble and remove everything you can, then paint top bottom sides inside outside. Otherwise the rust and corrosion can creep out from below. Get everyting painted all around, you'll be much happier.

Once you are down to bare metal you will need either a lacquer primer or etching primer and a 2K urethane primer. Honestly, the only way to go these days is with a 2K urethane primer. It cures in a matter of minutes rather than hours like lacquer often requires. 2K urethanes have an activator you mix with them and that sets up a chemical reaction that cures the primer much like adding hardener to plastic body filler. But it does require the surface to have an etching primer applied first. HOWEVER if you hunt around you can get a DTM 2K primer. DTM means direct to metal because it contains the etching agent blended in already. Without an etching agent or primer urethane can have a bit if a problem adhering. Although many painters use standard 2K as a DTM primer it isn't recommened you do so. I have sprayed 2K without an etching primer and had no problems but your milage may vary. The nice thing about 2K primer is that it seals the surface so well and will stand up to everything you can lay over the top of it without lifting. Sands great and doesn't show sanding scratches when properly blocked prior to painting.

This is a question for all of you, my compressor is not that largest as to cfm so I bought a Grizzly LVLP gun. Do any of you have experience with one and if so what were the results?
