DuPont Nason Codes

To anyone who is familiar with the Nason paint codes 7410 the right color code for the IH red on a 1953 Super H?

I work part time at a Dupont (Now called Axalta) paint store. From my limited research here on the net that number seems to be correct. During the 40's and early 50's IH changed their colors a bit and 7410 is considered the "newer" red. When tractors were repainted at a dealer it was customary to paint them the newest color available. Chances are that color found its way on to most older tractors and would be considered correct.
I do hope you use Nason Ful-thane Urethane as that is some of the finest paint available. I have sprayed dozens of gallons of that stuff and it does great.
something i havr dine but It's not recommended, is you can activate the Ful-thane with 483-15 activator as required by design, and spray a light coat. That is standrd proceedure. Apply just enough to get a complete coverage but don't try to bury everything with lots of paint. Allow that to dry about an hour to 3 hours and maybe a bit longer depending on drying conditions. Now here's where I deviate from the norm.... Mix up more of your Ful-thane and dump it into some Nason Overall clear. 498-00 maybe. 1 part red to 3 parts activated clear and spray that. Talk about a shine. The paint will look a foot deep and the shine will be a mile deep. I do recommend you have a piece of scrap metal or unused parts to experiment on so you will get a feel for how to spray this mixture. Too much applied too fast will cause problems with solvent pop. Takes a lot of time and patience because it will take a few coats of paint to cover everything well but the rewards are great.
