faded hood on NH TG285

The blue color on my TG285's hood is really faded. This has the plastic(?) hood material. Is there any product to restore the color or does it need repainting? Thanks!

It would probably be easier to go ahead and repaint it. If you really want to avoid that you might try to sand down below where it's faded. Just don't sand it with any paper coarser than 400 grit. If that works sand it again with 800 grit and then 1500 grit. Then buff it with an auto polisher and rubbing compound to bring the shine back. Harbor Freight makes a cheap polisher that works well.

You can sand/buff/polish. Be careful about pressure. All plastic has a limited lifespan. As the oils depart, it becomes more brittle. Also be careful of heat via buffing. Usually it works pretty well.
