Omni epoxy over Omni MTK

In an effort to get some flaws (bugs and runs) out of my dash on a Ford 8N I sanded thru to bare metal in a few spots. Can I apply Omni Epoxy Primer (mp 172) over the color coat or do I have to take it all (entire dash), all the way down to bare metal and start over. The MTK has been on for about 16 hours. I plan to shoot the whole thing with epoxy and then MTK.

Disclaimer ; not a professional . But I will say yes as long as you have a smooth surface the right thing is to reprime it again and then reshoot color.

Sure you can do that. I would recommend scuff sanding the area where you are going to re-shoot. How long has it been since the Omni primer been sprayed. Epoxy primers usually have a recoat window around eight hours before it is topcoated or another coat of primer is applied. If you have exceeded the recoat window you will need to re-prime all of it.

OK my bad, the recoat window is 72 hours on the Omni MP172. http://www.automotivepaintandequipment.com/pdf/omni/OB11_%20MP170_MP_%20Series_%20Epoxy_%20Primers.pdf
