John Deere Red Paint

John Deere "Red". The very thought seems like a contradiction, but old wooden John Deere implements were painted red. A mysterious red that no one seems to have any information about. Does anyone have an old can of John Deere Red on the shelf that could be sampled so this mystery color can be rediscovered? Even the JD Archives have no information about it. The Ak-Sar-Ben can pictured is not mine, it was sold on eBay last February. Thank you for ANY information!

Several yrs. ago , when in the tractor painting business, a Deere dealer had me paint a IH articulated, built by Stiger. It was I H red from the factory.
The J D dealer furnished John Deere Red . It was a 99.9 % match to the I H red , as we did some comparing before we painted the tractor.
No idea if J D still has red for sale now. We did use J D thinner , But no hardner was used. His request. The paint was in gallons, no qts. clint

IH red is a direct match.

We found two cans if John Deere Red Paint in an old shed. One quart is sealed (new) and the other is used but still liquid. Note the JD part number on the can. It
appears to be about the same color as IH 2150 Red.
