Gents:
I need to mine the great wealth of experience found here. I've looked in the archives and I have seen various opinions but I need help to come to a conclusion.
My house has a large , steep, and very rusty 5-V Crimp galvanized, roof . It was coated with something like Aluma-Seal 11 years ago ; rust started showing up in year seven . In the archives, as a first step some recommend Rustoleum Rusty Red Primer , others recommend a phosphate wash , and others power washing . As a final coat many recommend the Aluma-Seal type paints , others recommend a good latex paint that is said to bake on , and there are various other recommendations .
I favor the latex approach because I have seen at least two old houses that have been made to look beautiful in this way . Would you guys please give me your views on the first and second steps and your views on the correct paints .
And one other question : Since the roof was coated with Aluma-Seal , if I go with latex will there be issues due to residue from the old paint.
Deeply obliged for any help.
