Paint suggestions

I'm about to order some Martin Señour paint
through my local Napa dealer. Tractor being painted
is a 1946 Oliver 70 RC. Do I want to get base coat/
clear coat for everything. Or just single stage for the
frame, engine, etc and base/clear for body panels.
My main concern is the casting on the frame. Would
there be a noticeable difference in paint shade from
single stage coated parts to the cleared sheet
metal?

I don't care for using base coat clear coat for a solid color. You have to with a metallic but a solid color I would use a single stage paint. Look around at all the cars with the clear coat pealing off.

I use base clear on the sheet metal-I may or may not use it on the cast. I have done it both ways on the cast, single is simpler on the cast. I imagine even if the cast is not a perfect match it will blend in. I had both the 2150 Farmall single and base clear modified as I thought there was too much orange in them, they are not exactly the same, but the blend of the two look ok to me as when applied it is hard to see the difference.
