Paint matching question

I backed my 1 ton truck into my wifes 2002 ford taurus. The hitch ball did a job on the front bumper cover and foam inter support. My first idea was to locate a salvage bumper cover the same dark blue as her taurus. I am not having any luck locating one the same color code. A guy can buy new ones but it will need to be painted. The car has set out in the weather so I sure it has faded the paint some. My question is if I buy a new bumper cover can a body shop match the color of the car now? I know they can match the color code of the orginal color but if it has faded it will look like crap with a fresh paint front end. This car is her baby. 2002 with 24K original miles. Thanks for any ideas.

You really should be able to get by with the color code on the car. Automotive paint doesn't fade like house paint. I refinished the hood on a red 1987 Olds Delta 88 using the color code and it matched.

Has the car even had more than an oil change? Wow that is like no miles. I thought my grandmother didn't drive much.

To answer your question, yes a good body shop can match the color as colors do fade over time. However, with as few miles (and thus minimal sun exposure) I can't imagine it would fade much.
