Another paint question? Omni MKT or Omni MBC which one?

I am getting ready to paint my Ford 8N. Last year I was leaning toward the Omni MAE without hardener as I did not have a supplied air system. I asked for and got one for Christmas so I am rethinking my choice of paints.
I am thinking of going with a base coat clear coat system using either Omni MTK or Omni MBC. At this point the price difference between the two is not part of the decision. This is my first attempt at painting a tractor, and for now I am just talking about the tractor components not the sheet metal. I have primed most the tractor components with Omni MP 170 epoxy and I know I will have to scuff those and reapply the epoxy and then the color coat within the recoat window.
I was thinking of doing some of the spots on the tractor that will be hard to get to with the base coat (behind the running board brackets, oil filter, generator, brackets etc. see attached picture I found on web) and then shooting the whole tractor with the base coat and then clear coat it all. Is there a time window limit on applying the clear coat?
Also what reducer should I use? I will try to pick a day or two then the temps are below 85 to 90 degrees, I will be painting outside in the full sun, but I will be able to roll it back in to the garage as soon as it is done.
I am sure I will have more questions, I have found some of the data sheets for the above paints in the web but I find PPG’s site hard to navigate. Any tips on finding them on their site?
One other question. I have the MP 170 and stored in my basement between 60 and 70 degrees it is about 2 years old. The catalyst stored the same way and it is about 9 months old. I have been told the epoxy should be good but I should replace the catalyst. Any thoughts?

I think I found this picture on Smith's Old Ford Tractor Site

Omni MTK and MBC are very different products. MTK is the single stage and MBC is the basecoat. The MTK does not need to be cleared but the MBC does. If you want to use a base/clear system, choose the MBC and one of the clears noted on the MBC data sheet.

I wouldn't plan on applying MBC in the tough spots and then at a later time come back and shoot the whole thing with another coat of MBC. MBC in an uncatalyzed product and may be subject to lifting and wrinkling if another coat is applied after the recoat window (24 hrs max). Yes, there is a time window for applying the clear coat also (20 min to 24 hrs). If you go base/clear, I'd plan on applying the MBC and the clear all in the same day.

Actually, since this is your first attempt, I'd recommend using the single stage MTK instead of the base/clear. One product, less number of coats and no additional time window to deal with. Keep things as simple as possible for your first project. I'd also try and schedule the work on a cloudy day with no rain in sight. Never a good idea to paint in direct sunlight.

If your catalyst for the MP170 has not been opened previously and is clear, I'd use it. If you want to be absolutely positive, then get fresh catalyst. The 170 itself should be fine.

For the latest data sheets on Omni, go here:

Then click on "Catalog" within the horizontal blue bar and drill down as indicated.

Thanks Rod, I appreciate the info and link. Restoring this tractor is sure made easier with the help of this site and all the people willing to share their knowledge.

I have used PPG Omni MAE on several tractors over the last few years and I like it. It holds up well. I just finished a MH Pony and here is a pic of my Ford I painted a couple of years ago with Omni.
