I bought tisco paint which is alkyd enamel. I'm going to use hardner. Tisco also sells acrylic lacquer clear coat. The guy on the phone at tisco (because I asked) said that they get all their paint from the same manufacturer and it is made to work together. Question is, can I spray the acrylic lacquer clear coat on top of the alkyd enamel? And if so what is the time frame to do that? When the top coat is still tacky? 24 hours after the top coat? A month or so after I am sure that the top coat is cured? Thank you.

I think you need a urothane top coat. I doubt you could top coat with lacquer.

Don't think enamel and lacquer will behave well together.

Short answer...NO. Cookie cutter response from cookie cutter company. Call him back and tell him your paint job all cracked when "approved" clear was applied. See what kind of "cookie cutter answer" you get.

lacquer is way to hot on the alkyd enamel. its gonna lift when you apply it. also, the alkyd takes a long time to dry. even with a cpule months dry time, it still will lift.
