Valspar Paint

In my opinion you would be very lucky not to find it. Valspar paint is bad to fade especially red. It wouldn't be long before the paint would be pink.

I've had great success with Valspar paint I use starting fluid to wipe what I am painting then I primer then after primer is good and dry I paint then put clearcoat over paint before it dries

I have always heard John Deere paint was made by Valspar, and it seems to hold up well so is it just that the paint they make for Deere is better and they made a cheap line for the farm stores? I must say when TSC sold Valspar I painted a lot of stuff with it and have been very pleased. Altho none of them were fine paint jobs ie auto quality but none weathered thru or peeled off even with minimal prep and no primer.

This conversation reminds me of those about Harbor Freight. One man's necter is often another's poison.

This is my experience on Valspar paint on a Kubota tractor. From left to right fresh paint, one year old paint, five year old paint. I had repainted the hood last spring.

Im not trying to be argumentive just puzzled, I mean my loader backhoe that's original jd paint still has held up fine, yes chipped in the busy places and faded, but still looks decent and protecting the metal as it should and that's a machine that was built in 1988 and never been repainted. Also our backhoe at work looks similar, faded but still intact and good condition paint and that was made in 1997, and also the 644 deere loader I ran for a bit today is in similar dull finish but still looks good and paint is protecting it and that machine is about 9 years old. So I don't doubt that it loses its shine but it seems to be durable as best I can tell. And I am ok with that, its a tractor not a car so im just wondering if there is a problem I don't know of or if we just all have dif expectations.

I've always been afraid of Valspar ! Anything from TSC is crap IMHO! they are just good for Dog Food and junk you don't need .lol
So , You can imagine my laugh when told by my coater & painter that they use Valspar and think its the greatest.
They deal with the local industrial distributor.
Well, After much convincing and guarantees We've done three tractors and couple of plows and I am flabbergasted.
This is Valspar Poly-Urethane single stage with hardener.

Chuck,
I doubt you'll find it. Valspar quit making it over 2 years ago. Sad but true.
Don't let the paint snobs get under your skin.
I painted a dozen tractors with the Restoration Series paint in the last 10 years and found it to be good, durable, reasonably priced paint.

I think the hardner makes a big difference in the rate of fade. I painted an old IH 350 in 1998 with Rustoleum and had the sheet metal painted by friend who was pretty good with a gun. He added some hardner and what he painted still looks very good. I had a few other parts that were not ready when I brought them to him so I painted them myself - from the same can he used. What I painted is faded and is very noticeable (like the head lights and mounts) compared to the parts they are bolted to.
