Been looking at new bumper trailers and have a paint question, one advertises the following. (painted with hot iron phosphate base, sealing primer, multiple top coats.) is this a good lasting paint ? I know absolutly nothing about paint. thanks for any thoughts

When you use a rust converter it "kills" the rust by chemically converting it to iron phosphate. This tells me that it is a good thing and so it should last. Most trailer manufactueres are using powder coat now in order to avoid the costs of meeting federal VOC laws that govern the use of paint. Powder coat is great until it gets a scratch that penetrates to the steel. Once the coating is compromised rust travels way faster underneath than under paint due to the lack of a primer.
