What brand is everyone using, or what do you like to use the most?

I am a beginner and don't plan on painting my sheet metal but I rely on a good friend to currently do all my painting and I feel like I may be a burden on him sometimes so I'm looking to do some of my own.

Thanks and any tips are helpful

Devilbiss. I have a H-F but when I used the disposable cup system it dripped onto my work. I go to custom painting seminars and all the professionals use Sata or Iwata. There a hundreds of guns on ebay of all types .

we use sata and iwata here at the shop. wht ever gun you choose, be sure you can get rebuild kits for i, and different size tips.

Years ago, I started out using a chinese copy of a binks #7 with a siphon cup. That was back when the quality was good. It was a great gun.

Later, I upgraded to a chinese copy of SATA gravity feed HVLP. Again the quality was good because they just started making them. I've used SATAs and Binks and I like them, but I can't justify the extra expense.

I've never spent more than $50 on a paint gun because I don't use them every day. I can't justify spending $600 on a real SATA. Real SATA and Binks are definitely better than the copies, but I can turn out the same quality with a little more fussing. I tend to go for low cost high performance. Heck, I only recently upgraded my welder from my 2nd hand $45 mig, to a nice used Century mig for $250. You wouldn't think you could do much with a $45 mig, but I built and repaired many things, but finally I got tired of fixing it and bought one that wasn't such a pain in the backside. Now for paintguns, if no one screws with my settings, they work good all day every day.

I bought the 80 dollar kit from Home Depot, gonna give it a try this weekend and see what happens. It's only cast parts so not like its sheet metal. If it turns out good great if its just ok I'll know not to use it on the sheet metal.
