Blasting media for cast aluminum pedal tractor

I'm looking to "clean up" and paint my cast aluminum john
deere pedal tractor what blasting media do I use?
Also it's a model 520 pedal tractor which JD green is it?

I use 80 grit glass beads on toys tractors.

A 520. You mean a 2 cylinder 520 or is that the casting number?

Any 2 cylinder should be classic green.

How about some paint remover and a good pressure washer ?

Don't use sand ! I did that once even with a lower powered than commercial blaster and still had it roughed up and had to do a lot of extra primering and sanding.

Most pedal tractors are sand cast. They have a rough texture anyway.

paint removers don't do a ting in cold weather besides the mess. You also have to keep reapply

the remover every thirty minutes or as it like to drip off.

I would rather use a sander and wire brushes in a drill or dremel tool over paint removers.

If you're going to paint it, sand works just fine. The sand will leave a rough texture that lends itself well to paint.

dairyfarmerinma, This would work good to remove paint and clean the aluminum 70-grit-aluminum-oxide-abrasive.
