Removing Grease before painting

I am just after products used to get grease off off the chassis in hard to reach places. I have used brake cleaner and oven cleaner in the past. Any other suggestions?

I would let it soak with fuel oil. Then if you can get a high preasure steam genny it will usually do the job.

I always keep a gallon of purple power or super purple around, fill a spray bottle and spray what ever and let it work awhile and keep it wet, use a stiff solvent brush on it and hit it with a pressure washer, works good, steam cleaner would work better if you had one.

This would be better done in warm weather. I normally start with purple power and a power washer. There seems to be a difference in purple power where you buy it. Tractor Supply stuff works good but if you buy it a Walmart is near nothing. Once it has been cleaned with that I go back over it and scrape some of the stubborn spots and then use oven cleaner. If you had access to a steam washer that would probably be the best.

The last tractor I painted had places the previous owner painted over dried grease and it stuck very well.

I drive into town and gas it up, then head for the car wash. Get that nozzle into impossible places, really blasts the stuff off, but I keep the tractor running so it won't get wet in the electircal.
