Used Majic paint on small project

Thank goodness I didn't paint a tractor with it.
Three days since 1st coat and it's still too tender for sanding. No reducer nor hardener used. Reminds me of house paint in the 50s. Has paint come full circle since VOC regulations went in to effect?

hrdner makes all the difference. I just painted a tractor using the magic hardner, reducer and paint.

worked just fine. I like the carquest quick cure hardner better as it is a lil more potent ( faster ).. but the magic hardner is no worse than the valspar hardner.

even left clean edges when i untaped a few hours later, i did sand a couple spots ( starter mount and ground wire for battery, etc. and it was fully cured the next day.

No reducer or hardener? You can make about anything to fail if you try.

I have used a bunch of that paint and the only problem I have had is a faster fading than I would like. However I have always used the hardener and reduced it for proper flow and temperature.

I hear what you are saying about hardener but I didn't have supplied air at hand and the item didn't need the higher durability anyhow. Even low end hardware store paint dries just fine straight out of the can. I've applied urathanes and they make it clear if it should not be used without hardener and activator. At any rate I won't be using Majic in the future, with or without hardener. I will be giving the leftover to Tractor Supply for disposal rather than paying for disposal myself.

The tractor on the left was painted over a year ago with Majic paint....The tractor on the right was painted 4 months ago with Majic paint...Hardener and reducer was used..It cured in about 24 hours..I keep them indoors to help reduce fade..

I just finishe dpainting that ford 941D on 8/22 the next day i assembled it all. Paint was cured. I used the majic reducer and hardner, I think on the tins I ran out of majic hardner and used up a can of nason quick cure hardner i had.. either that or it was some valspar hardner. In any case. it worked fine.

I untaped some masked areas a couple hours after painting and the paint was already 'light handling' safe 2 hours after painting.

I think you essentially misused the paint you had.. or the environmental conditions were not good ( humidity / temp ) and now you are crying sour grapes. :(

There is a reason they call it a catylist..
