ppg shopline paint, opinions?

I was looking for the Omni line of paints but what I found was shopline. He said it was very similar. Anyone know if this is true? He has epoxy primer but when I asked for acrylic enamel he tried to sell me acrylic urethane. Are the two the same? Should I get that or would it be bad?

Thanks Brian

They are the same. PPG shopline is sold by PPG platinum distributors. They only sell PPG products. Omni is sold by jobbers that sell other brands of paint besides PPG in their stores. It's just a marketing thing really....I have used both lines and they seemed the same and the jobber even showed me on his mixing screen that they were one and the same. My jobber originally sold DuPont,RM,Sikkens, and PPG and at that time he sold Omni. Later he went exclusively to PPG and he sold Shopline.

Not sure about that. To me, Shopline is the cheap watered down version. The clear is the worst IMO. I tried to clear some JD sidescreens and it gummed up all the perforations. I have painted many before so I know it was the product and not me. So I just avoid Shopline altogether. I do use PPG DBC and DCC exclusively for my color. Did use 3000 clear in th e past and like it, but have found something I like even better. The universal clear from southern polyurethanes sprays better and mixes 1:1 so it's just easier to use altogether. Plus the price is about half.

Shopline and Omni are the same. As said it is just advertising. Been using Omni for several years, no problem at all from them, clear or not.

I used Omni on my Troy Bilt tiller in 2006. It still looks good and never sits out. Hal

I own a body shop. Omni has been awful stuff. I stopped using
it. As well as other shops. Shopline is cheaper stuff, but no
issues on peeling. Both base coats are fine.
