Hello Guys.
Im looking for help on the correct Grey and red/orange color for a 1953 Golden Jubilee.
Does any one know the correct name of the colors?
I will be using PPG paint so if any one has those numbers that would be really great!
Can you tell me if the colors are different from the 8n or even the 6-7-800 series too?
Thank you so much!
Damon

(quoted from post at 18:20:26 07/13/14) Hello Guys.
Im looking for help on the correct Grey and red/orange color for a 1953 Golden Jubilee.

I'm about to do some painting on a Jubilee. There was an earlier
restoration on the tractor before I bought it and even though not a super professional job, I think that they did go to the trouble of using what is called "Ford Grey" which is much lighter than the grey of the early N's.

So what I did was remove the hood and take it to the local auto parts store that deals in Valspar, where they photographed it with a special camera and sent it off to digitally match the paint. I could let you know the Va\lspar numbers later if it works out.

On line, valspar has a line of tractor paints but the Ford Grey
seemed to only be available in rattle can and I want to use my gun. maybe where you are you can get the Valspar Tractor and Implement paint.

Anyway, here's a photo of my tractor so you can compare and decide from Jubilee videos if it is the correct shade or not.

That said, I don't think that my red is correct but I like it better than the orange-red in that '53 Jubilee promotional video so i don't particularly care. The front rims are totally wrong as well.

Cheers,
Terry

P.S.
This may not be useful to you at all because of the way our computer monitors are color calibrated. . . so you might want to play around with your monitor presets.

Hi Damon,

Here's the correct Valspar number for the Ford Grey of a Jubilee.

I have the paint now and it seems I was right in assuming that the previous restoration owner HAD chosen the correct Ford Grey for a Jubilee. The parts manager said that the camera recognized the body paint as "Ford Grey".

Data from the label they stuck on the can of paint they mixed up for me:

VALSPAR

852 SS Polyurethane (A)

852-145056 NF

TERRAIN

2013 FORD USA (VA-7290)
